About The Smoke Show FX
Creating unforgettable moments through lighting, special effects, and immersive event production.
At The Smoke Show FX, we specialize in creating immersive event experiences through professional lighting, lasers, cold sparks, flame effects, atmospheric effects, and custom production design.
From elegant weddings and private celebrations to concerts, festivals, corporate events, and large-scale productions, every event is designed around the client’s vision while prioritizing professionalism, safety, and reliability.
Planning starts with the moment you want guests to remember. Share your date, venue, guest count and ideas, whether that means a cloud-like first dance, a dramatic entrance or a coordinated finale. You can choose one effect or combine lighting, lasers and atmosphere into a production that fits your celebration.
Use our service pages to explore the options, then browse the gallery for inspiration. Venue layout, indoor or outdoor placement and event timing help shape the right setup. When you request a quote, include any venue rules and the moments you would like to highlight so we can discuss suitable effects and next steps.
Planning for your venue: Licensing, permits, applicable insurance and COI availability depend on your chosen effects and venue. Share your requirements and document deadlines so we can review them before booking.
meet the owner
Hi, I’m Evan, owner of The Smoke Show FX.
I started The Smoke Show FX because I wanted to offer something beyond the typical event add-ons. I love taking lighting, lasers, cold sparks, flame effects, fog, CO₂ and other visual effects and turning them into one coordinated experience.
My focus is not simply putting equipment in a room and turning it on. I enjoy programming, timing and combining effects so they work together. That might mean creating a dramatic wedding entrance, building a synchronized production around a specific song, or adding the right effect to a moment people will remember.
Outside of The Smoke Show FX, I work as an air traffic controller. At first glance, air traffic control and special effects may not seem related, but there is more crossover than you might think. On a busy day, I may be working a dozen aircraft at once while constantly evaluating closure rates, airspeed, descent rates, time to climb, altitude minimums, where each aircraft is now and where it will be several minutes from now. At the same time, there are rules, procedures and safety requirements that have to be followed without losing sight of the bigger picture.
A big part of the job is identifying a potential conflict before it becomes a problem. When something unexpected happens, whether it is an emergency, an equipment issue or a rapidly changing situation, you learn to stay calm, work the problem and keep everything moving safely.
That mindset carries directly into how I approach event production. I think ahead, pay attention to timing, account for the details and try to identify problems before the show starts. When several effects are running together, each with its own timing, positioning, programming and safety considerations, coordination matters.
I take the technical side seriously as well. I am a licensed flame operator and work with clients and venues to determine which effects are appropriate for the space, what requirements may apply and how the production should be configured before the event.
The Smoke Show FX can provide individual effects, but where we really stand apart is in combining them. Lighting, lasers, sparks, flames, haze and other effects can be programmed and choreographed together to create a complete production rather than a collection of unrelated rentals.
I work throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area on weddings, private events, school productions, corporate events and other special productions.
If you have a specific idea, a particular song, or simply want to create a moment that feels bigger than the typical event setup, I’d love to help figure out how to make it happen.
